DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is a low-risk procedure that involves the insertion of small needles into various body points to relieve pain and aid healing. Dry needling can improve flexibility and range of motion, when used in conjunction with other physical therapies.

The needles are typically placed in areas of tightness in which the body responds by redirecting blood flow to the affected area. In doing so, the body is stimulating blood circulation and creating a chemical shift that changes the neural pathways in the affected area. Through this process,  muscle soreness and tension can be relieved. Individuals with the following symptoms can experience significant relief:

  • Tension in the shoulder and neck region

  • Lower back tension or discomfort

  • A specific sports injury such as tight calves

  • Post surgery/recovery
